1. What this site is
DatrixCalc provides free online statistical calculators and written articles explaining the methods behind them. Everything here is general educational information. It is not professional statistical, academic, medical, financial or legal advice, and using this site does not create a professional relationship of any kind.
The important one. These are educational instruments, not validated statistical software. They have not been through the verification process applied to R, SAS, SPSS or Stata. For any result that will be submitted, published, or relied on in a regulated or high-stakes context, reproduce it in software your institution or field recognises and cite that. Please read the full disclaimer, which forms part of these terms.
2. Accuracy and no warranty
We take considerable care to get the arithmetic right and document the conventions used. Even so, the site is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy or non-infringement.
We do not warrant that the site will be uninterrupted, error-free or secure, nor that any calculator result will be accurate, complete or appropriate for your data. Statistical methods carry assumptions that a calculator cannot verify on your behalf, and applying a valid method to unsuitable data produces a precise and wrong answer.
3. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, DatrixCalc, its operators and contributors are not liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, special or exemplary damages arising from your use of, or inability to use, this site — including without limitation incorrect research conclusions, rejected submissions, failed coursework, commercial decisions, or any loss resulting from reliance on a calculator result or article.
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability where the law does not allow it to be excluded, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.
4. Acceptable use
You may use this site for personal, educational and commercial analysis in the ordinary course of your work or study. You must not:
- copy, republish or redistribute substantial parts of our content without written permission
- scrape, crawl or systematically extract content by automated means beyond ordinary search engine indexing
- frame, mirror or embed the site so as to present it as your own
- remove, obscure or alter any copyright, trademark or disclaimer notice
- attempt to gain unauthorised access to the site, its servers or any connected system
- introduce malware or interfere with the site's operation or availability
- use the site in any way that is unlawful, fraudulent or harmful
5. Academic integrity
Using this site to check your working, understand a method, or verify a result is legitimate study. Submitting output from it as though it were your own manual working, where an assessment requires you to demonstrate the calculation yourself, may breach your institution's academic integrity rules. That judgement is yours and your institution's, not ours, and we accept no responsibility for how the site is used in assessed work.
6. Intellectual property
All content on this site — text, code, layout, design and the DatrixCalc name — is owned by or licensed to us and protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws. The underlying statistical formulas are of course public mathematical knowledge and belong to nobody; our particular implementation and written explanations are ours.
You may quote a short extract for commentary, criticism, review or educational purposes provided you attribute it and link to the source page. Anything more requires written permission — ask through the contact form.
7. Content you submit
If you send us a message, suggestion or correction, you grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to use it for operating and improving the site. You confirm that what you send is yours to send and infringes nobody else's rights. Please do not send confidential research data, personal data belonging to third parties, or client information through the contact form.
8. Advertising and third-party content
This site displays third-party advertising. We do not control, endorse or take responsibility for the content of any advertisement or any product or service advertised. Any dealings you have with an advertiser are strictly between you and them. Links to external sites are provided for convenience and do not imply endorsement.
9. Availability and changes
We may modify, suspend, restrict or discontinue any part of the site at any time without notice, including removing or changing calculators and articles. We are not liable for any unavailability.
10. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. The version published here with the date at the top is the one in force. Continuing to use the site after an update means you accept the revised terms.
11. Governing law and severability
These terms are governed by the laws applicable in the jurisdiction where the site is operated, without regard to conflict of law principles. If any provision is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue in full effect and the unenforceable provision is interpreted to reflect its original intent as closely as the law allows.
12. Entire agreement
These terms, together with the privacy policy and the disclaimer, constitute the entire agreement between you and DatrixCalc regarding your use of this site.
